if you say you’re an alcoholic people feel sympathy for you because they understand how addictive it can be
if you claim to be a heroin/meth/etc addict people feel no sympathy for you because they just claim you ruined your own life by being involved in such actions
both are drugs. both are addictive. both can hurt your body.
why must we punish those who are just as addicted to something terrible for them when they really just need help
after the conversation i just really felt strongly towards legalization of drugs because if someone wants to do drugs they’ll do it regardless of if it’s illegal. but if they can get help and know they won’t get in serious trouble at least they can really get better. and if the said drug is legal they may not even be interested because it loses it’s edge.
